The folding chess board was originally invented in 1125 by a chess-playing priest. Since the Church forbids priests to play chess, he hid his chess board by making one that looked simply like two books lying together. The reason why I did some facts about chess origins is because I really like the board game chess.
Hi Oliver,
ReplyDeleteI have never really played chess, but I know we have some talented players at school! Are you playing at home with anyone or online? Thanks for the info about who invented a folding chess board and why. That was interesting.
Now, that is very interesting, Oliver. I also didn't know that the history of chess goes back so many years. I don't really know the rules of chess, maybe next time you can do a blog post about the rules and how to play the game. Have you ever thought about starting a chess club at school?
